THANK YOU TO ALL of the volunteers! So often, we all take
the generosity of the volunteers for granted It would be impossible to run a
program like this one on the fees that you all ask for if salaries had to be
paid. Anybody with a little bit of common sense should already know that. This
is our first year with RCYS and I have been spreading the word about the great
program. My son played with another county program last year and we certainly
did pay a lot more to participate. Not only was it stressful but it was not fun
for my son. He didn't want to go back. He's having a
great time!
First and foremost I would like to say a HUGE, "THANK
YOU!!!" This is my daughter's second season of softball but her first with
RCYS. We have LOVED every minute of it! Your program was recommended by my
daughter's former coach. Although it is somewhat of a drive, my family has
found it WELL WORTH IT! I have two particular anecdotes that I thought I would
share:
Story #1: My mother-in-law,
who is a wonderful person but is not a believer in Jesus Christ, was in from out
of town. We brought her to both a Friday night and a Saturday morning game.
She commented several times on "what a kind man" the coach (Floyd Roberts) was.
She also noticed with surprise how encouraging the parents and coaching staff
were TO EVERY CHILD - not just the children on their team. I was able to talk
to her about the Body of Christ and how we are called to encourage one another
and to love one another (and all the other "one anothers"...) and how Christ
enables us to do these things that are so unnatural for sinful man. She is
still not a believer, (we are still praying) but what a BLESSING from the Lord
to be able to use as a springboard into a Gospel conversation a
seemingly "just for
fun" little softball game. Praise be to Him Who is ENTIRELY able to use all
things for His Glory!
Story #2: Because of Fall Break plans that my parents
have had for a year now, my daughter had to miss her last three games. I have
to tell you there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth upon her knowledge of
this sad news. One evening, she came to me very seriously with plans to LEAVE
DISNEY WORLD early in order to make her games. She understood that this would
mean missing several days in the parks, but she wanted to come back early to
play softball with her team! I don't know if this speaks the volumes to you
that it speaks to me, but WOWZERS!; kudos to the staff that puts together a
program that would entice a 7 yr. old little girl away from Disney to
participate!
I like being informed and do appreciate your
communication. Keep doing what you're doing! By the Grace of GOD, the program
will thrive.
I
don't have a story, but I did want to share some positive feedback to YOU and
YOUR committee. Keep your head up and remember that with everything in life, it
is much easier to criticize than to praise the actions of others. I am not sure
where the negativity comes from with a program like this. I think the
sportsmanship, fellowship and the way the program is run on a voluntary basis is
awesome. I also like the attitude that the games are to be more about
having fun than winning. This league is great for the community and the kids,
and everyone seems to enjoy the season. Thanks for taking the time to have the
league and keep up the great work.
We
are all on our own journey, walking with Christ, at different places in our
walk. Thank you for the evidence of grace toward all
that I see in your ministry. Many thanks, again, for all the calls showing
concern and love for our niece when she was bitten by
that snake last season. The security/emergency response to our situation was
quick and effective; Trina was ready with
transportation, a call to the knowledgeable snake expert was immediate,
a loving Mom (I can see her face, but not her name) even watched our dog
until we returned to the field later that day. Thanks
for your prayers for her return to health; fyi, she never had a reaction to
the antivenin either!!! You are a
blessing to our family and our community. The love of Jesus is showing !!!
Just a story that touched the hearts of myself and my daughter
Lauren. Today marks one year ago that we buried Lauren's dad (my husband).
She plays softball because that was what her dad always played and she
wanted to be like him. This time last year was her second season playing and she
was on the Blue team. Mrs. Debbie was the coach along with her son Josh. We
explained at practice before Brad had passed away that he was not doing well at
all and at practice that night, Debbie, had the team gather in a circle and pray
for him. At the funeral, we saw a beautiful arrangement and on the card it read
"From the Blue Team". No one knew who that was except for myself and Lauren who
smiled from ear to ear and said "hey, that is my softball team". We were touched
that a circle of friends that we had only known for such a short time sent
flowers to her daddy's funeral. They were also so supportive when Lauren
returned to play. The same holds true this year and in the memory of losing her
Dad all of the knew "family" we have made have definitely been a part in helping
us keep ourselves together during this tough time.
God Bless this church and this program that is bringing so
many children's hearts together in a sport but also in a caring, loving, and
Godly atmosphere without the pressures that recreation
ball put on the children.

We just want to say how thankful our family is for this
program and everyone who makes it possible for our children to be a part of it.
Sometimes it may seem that all the feedback you get is
negative but just know that there are people like us that are truly thankful to
have the privilege of being a part of this great opportunity that our kids have.
To be able to have so much fun in a good environment
truly is a blessing. As for the public meeting please
keep us updated on the times so that we may be there to help in any way
possible.
All the
volunteers have a contagious smile. They seem like they enjoy serving and
giving of themselves. The ones in the concession stand have always been very
eager to be helpful whenever I've asked a question. It's well known that they
can really grill a great hamburger!
As with
anything new, we have to get into the routine of it all. In the first season
during one of the first games, an umpire's phone rang.... during the game ...
and he answered it!! I held my breath hoping the play didn't need his all
seeing eye. It didn't. All was good. And this is how I first came to know TJ.
He's always been great, full of character, enjoyable.
This park
has a great foundation with the volunteers it has. I envision it blessing our
community for years to come.
First, we would like to thank
your group for all that you do. Our family loves this program and will do all
that we can to support it. We will be at your side for the special permit
hearing!
My husband and I have never had the community
experience at our own church that we do here. It is an inspiration to see your
Pastor, and his team, take such an interest in the youth of our community. Your
calling has been found!
We have played soccer for many seasons but our sons
want to play softball and insist that they play at
RCYS! It is so much fun for our whole family. We love going to the ball field
together.
I would like to take an opportunity to thank Trina
Potts. She has been so kind to us and was sure to notify your church team when
my Dad was very ill. Not only did everyone offer up their prayers but they
helped out with a financial gift for our family. Without that gift, our boys
wouldn't be playing this season. What other organization would step up to that
need in such a timely manner? Every time we see Ms. Trina she is working hard
with a kind smile for all. Much thanks, Ms. Trina!
We will never forget that level of support and
kindness. Your efforts have continued to impress us. I tell everyone about your
program and know that it will continue to grow and will be a Rockdale County
legacy in years to come.
Keep up the great work. May
God Bless You All.
FOR ME, I THANK EVERYONE WHO IS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS
PROGRAM FOR THEIR MANY MANY TALENTS, GIFTS, EFFORTS AND TIME AND MOSTLY LOVE FOR
THE CAUSE.....GOD KNOWS WHO THOSE ARE!!
I applaud all that you have
done and continue to do with this program. It isn't easy creating and
maintaining something of this magnitude in Satan's playground... but with God
all things are possible... I know the enemy is very busy but we
must stay in prayer...and continue to fight for the smiles that light up our
children's faces as a result of RCYS. It is worth
it... I speak for me and my family. We love our new Softball family... this
interaction has been a very positive thing for my children. As you know, we
have endured a lot...and through Softball we've been
able to bridge some things in our family and surround ourselves with people that
seem to share similar values. It's so hard today keeping Satan out of our homes
and our lives-so these types of activities are few and far between in these last
days...we must fight to maintain!!! Humbly I
Write with Many Thanks and Loads of Respect.
